More emails wasn’t the answer.

Like many fashion retailers, Goddiva relied on large email blasts and discount offers to drive sales. Results were uneven: the best campaigns earned more than five times the median, while some of the largest sends earned almost nothing and added to subscriber fatigue.

The question was whether fewer, better-targeted newsletters, built on what customers were actually talking about and the products Goddiva already had in stock, could earn more from every email.

Phase 1July 2026 · Two weeks

The pilot: more from every email.

In a two-week pilot, Goddiva sent newsletters built on Sociate’s trend insight and assets, each one reviewed and approved by Goddiva’s team. The focus was relevance, not volume.

No discounts

None of the pilot newsletters used a discount code. The uplift came from matching the right products to the right customers, not from cutting prices.

In production: better engagement, more sales per email.

Goddiva’s team brought Sociate into their regular newsletter calendar, sending trend-led newsletters to targeted audiences instead of broad lists.

Brand experts in the driving seat.

The strongest result came when Goddiva’s own team drove the creative, with Sociate’s trend intelligence and assets behind them. That is what Sociate is built for: marketers keep their judgement and their voice, and spend less time searching for trends, producing visuals and guessing who to target.

Goddiva and Sociate are now bringing the targeted segments to their full planned reach and testing trend-led newsletters across the calendar.

“AI made content cheaper for us but not more relevant. As a brand, we don’t just need more assets to keep up with our customers; we need the right ones, with our products matched to what’s genuinely trending at exactly the right time, whilst still respecting our own merchandising and business priorities. Without compromising on the human touch that is integral to our brand.”

How we measured

Phase 1 figures are as reported by Klaviyo, compared with Goddiva’s Klaviyo 30-day account average. Uplift is the Sociate-powered result divided by the account average, minus one.

Phase 2 sales are Shopify orders placed within three days of a send by people who opened that email, excluding return fees and £0 orders. Rates and per-1,000 figures use emails delivered. The comparison is Sociate’s five newsletters against Goddiva’s seven in-house campaigns in the same period.

Percentage changes are calculated from unrounded figures, so they can differ slightly from changes worked out from the rounded figures shown.

The two phases were measured differently, so their figures should not be compared directly.
